Dovecot Shops

Dovecot shops have changed a lot since I was a youngster. I cannot remember a shop being boarded up or to let or empty, Dovecot was a thriving community of life and people.

Some Stalwarts Remain strong.

As far back as I can remember Harrisons has been part of the Dovecot Shops parade ground, and is still going strong. We used to buy our school uniform badge and our ties from here, both Junior and
Senior school ties and badges.

Good to see that Sayers Bakery has survived, many of these have been closed down but this one survives. Let's hope this one stays firm on this parade for a few more years. From pies to cakes, and as the sign says, "So Fresh we're Famous"

The Holy Spirit Church, the hub of all communities one time a go. Sunday still has a reasonable congregation, probably not as many as used to go to church, but still enough to keep the church open. They have just been appointed a new Vicar, will comment when we find out more about her.
